Effective Date: 5 October 2026

Medifast requires a valid prescription for medicines and healthcare products where a prescription is required by applicable law or by the product classification. This policy explains how prescriptions are submitted, checked, and used to fulfil an order.

1. When a Prescription Is Required

Prescription-only medicines will be processed only after a valid prescription has been received and verified. A prescription is not normally required for over-the-counter products unless Medifast requests one for safety or legal reasons.

2. Valid Prescription Requirements

A prescription should be issued by a registered medical practitioner and must be clear, legible, current, and unaltered. It should include the patient’s name, medicine name, strength, dosage and duration where applicable, the prescriber’s name and registration details, signature, and date of issue.

3. Upload and Verification

Customers may upload the prescription using the Upload Prescriptions option during or before placing an order. Medifast may ask for clarification where information is incomplete or unclear. An order for a prescription medicine will be processed only after successful verification.

4. Invalid or Unverifiable Prescriptions

Medifast may hold, reject, or cancel an order if the prescription is missing, illegible, expired, altered, inconsistent with the order, or otherwise invalid. If payment has already been collected and the order cannot be fulfilled, the refund will be handled in accordance with the Return, Refund & Cancellation Policy.

5. Quantity and Substitution

Prescription medicines will be supplied only in the prescribed quantity and subject to applicable law and availability. A substitute product will not be supplied without the customer’s consent and any professional approval required by law.

6. Restricted Medicines

Medifast does not knowingly supply prohibited or controlled medicines except where the sale is lawfully permitted and all required checks have been completed. Availability shown on the website does not guarantee that an order will be accepted.

7. Privacy

Prescription information is used only for verification, order fulfilment, customer support, and legal or regulatory compliance. It is handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy.

8. Medical Disclaimer

Medifast does not diagnose medical conditions or replace advice from a qualified healthcare professional. Customers should consult their doctor or pharmacist about treatment, dosage, side effects, and medicine suitability.
