Alkoffin Plus Syrup is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Alkoffin Plus Syrup may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.:

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Alkoffin Plus Syrup may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.:

If you miss a dose of Alkoffin Plus Syrup, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.:

What is Alkoffin Plus Syrup?::: Alkoffin Plus Syrup is a combination of three laxatives: Sodium picosulfate, liquid paraffin, and milk of magnesia. Together they help relieve constipation by softening the stools and increasing the movement of the intestine. Sodium picosulfate is a stimulant laxative which increases the movement of the intestines to push the stools forward. Liquid paraffin is a lubricant laxative which helps the stools to retain water. Milk of magnesia is an osmotic laxative and it works by drawing water into the intestine through osmosis, making the stools soft.| What are the recommended storage conditions for Alkoffin Plus Syrup?::: Keep this medicine in the container or the pack it came in, tightly closed. Store it as mentioned on the pack or label. Dispose of the unused medicine. Make sure it is not consumed by pets, children and other people.| Can the use of Alkoffin Plus Syrup cause diarrhea?::: Yes, the use of Alkoffin Plus Syrup can cause diarrhea. In case you experience diarrhea, drink plenty of water or other fluids. Talk to your doctor diarrhea persists and you notice any signs of dehydration, like less urination with dark colored and strong-smelling urine. Do not take any other medicine without consulting a doctor.| How long should laxatives be used for?::: Ideally, laxatives should only be used occasionally and for short periods of time. Do not get into the habit of taking laxatives every day to keep the bowels regular and to ease your constipation. It may be harmful.| Can any type of laxative be used for Crohn’s disease?::: No, some laxatives may not be safe to use if you are suffering from Crohn’s disease. It also helps in the easy passage of gas. Alkoffin Plus Syrup is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen.
