Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Althrocin 100mg Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.:

Do not panic. Unless your child’s doctor has advised a specific regime for your child, you can give the missed dose as soon as you remember. But, if it is nearly time for the next dose, just give the upcoming dose at the right time. Do not double the dose.:

What if I give an overdose of Althrocin 100mg Tablet by mistake?::: Though an extra dose of Althrocin 100mg Tablet does not usually cause any harm, you must consult a doctor immediately if you feel you have given too much of it to your child. Never forget that overdose can increase the risk of unwanted side effects and may even worsen your child’s condition. So, stay vigilant and adhere to the prescribed dose.| What are the serious side effects of Althrocin 100mg Tablet?::: Althrocin 100mg Tablet may rarely cause some serious side effects such as severe gastrointestinal infections (superinfection), severe allergic reactions, liver dysfunction, blood infections, and heart conduction abnormalities like QT prolongation due to arrhythmia. Always consult your child’s doctor for help in such a situation.| Can other medicines be given at the same time as Althrocin 100mg Tablet?::: Althrocin 100mg Tablet can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Althrocin 100mg Tablet. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.| Is it safe to give Althrocin 100mg Tablet if my child has low potassium levels in blood?::: Avoid giving Althrocin 100mg Tablet if your child has low potassium levels as it can lead to conduction abnormalities of the heart such as arrhythmias (QT prolongation).| Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Althrocin 100mg Tablet ?::: Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.| Which lab tests should my child undergo while taking Althrocin 100mg Tablet for the long term?::: Your child’s doctor may advise you to track your child’s ECG and liver functioning periodically as that will help to keep a check on your child’s condition.| My child is having a sore throat and ear infection. Can I give antibiotics?::: No. Sore throats, runny nose, cough, pain, or discharge from the ear are almost always caused by viruses. As per statistics, more than 80% of sore throats and ear infections are caused by a virus. Since antibiotics should not be given for viral infections, it will be best if you consult your child’s doctor to seek guidance.:

Althrocin 100mg Tablet is an antibiotic. It works by interfering with the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to perform important functions. By doing so, it stops the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading.:

Althrocin 100mg Tablet is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the eye, ear, nose, throat, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. Also given as an alternative therapy to penicillin allergy, Althrocin 100mg Tablet may help treat certain specific infections such as pertussis (whooping cough) and diphtheria. Prefer giving Althrocin 100mg Tablet on an empty stomach (either 1 hour before or 2 hours after food) as that will enhance the medicine’s absorption. However, if stomach upset occurs, give it with a small amount of food. Althrocin 100mg Tablet is usually given four times a day. Since the dose depends upon the type of infection, its severity, and your child’s age and body weight, make sure to stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor.The usual duration of the treatment is 5 to 10 days, depending upon infection severity and how well your child responds to the treatment. Ensure that your child completes the full prescribed course of the medicine as stopping it abruptly may worsen your child’s condition or increase the risk of reinfection. In case your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking this medicine, help your child calm down and then give the same dose again.This medicine may have some mild side effects. including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach pain. These side effects should recede on their own within a few days. However, in case these effects persist or become bothersome for your child, consult your child’s doctor without any delay.Inform your child’s doctor if your child has a history of allergies, heart problems, liver impairment, or kidney malfunction.
